An introduction to the Baroque style with 22 moderately difficult pieces fully annotated and with performing notes, is edited by Dr Richard Jones, a leading Bach scholar recently lauded for his edition of The Well-Tempered Clavier. Baroque Keyboard Pieces is a graded anthology, in five books, of the keyboard music of the period 1600-1750. It offers a fairly representative selection of the forms, styles and composers of that period, and aims to show how the music can be played stylishly, whether on piano or on old instruments. A further aim has been to include pieces that are tuneful and memorable in the hope that the task of learning them will be enjoyable as well as instructive. Suitable for Grade 6.
