Domenico Scarlatti: The Scholar’s Scarlatti Volume Three

A graded progression of 42 sonatas through style and technique. The sonatas have been chosen according to four criteria: the range of technical problems they present; the variety of styles and forms they contain; their musical quality; and the rarity (many being generally unavailable unless one purchases the complete works). Professor Lincoln has also grouped the sonatas into Sets according to key. Each Set includes many different technical problems but also makes a satisfying music unit for performance. Preceding each Set is a detailed commentary on the sonatas in the group, analysing the technical problems encountered, and suggesting approaches to the interpretation of each sonata.
