That’s quite a few demands to make on composers who are often far too busy producing high-minded “art”! Though they lived on different continents and in different centuries, Carl Czerny (1791-1857) and William Gillock (1917-1993) both have something in common: They undertook the difficult task of writing little works for pupils. These worthwhile compositions are not only technically gainful but yet delightful to play.
