Rode – Twenty-Four Caprices for the Violin

For more than a hundred years, the Twenty-Four Caprices of Pierre Rode (1774-1830) have been regarded as necessary to the training of all serious violinists. Notwithstanding the development of violin technique since the early nineteenth century, they are today as essential as ever; for no existing studies are more valuable for the acquirement of exact intonation and co-ordination between the bow-arm and the left hand.
